Can Alexa+ send text messages to your contacts?
Short answer
Yes, through your phone. Amazon's Alexa+ help pages describe "Text to Contacts": in the Alexa app you enable texting for an Echo and pair your Android phone or iPhone with it over Bluetooth, so the Echo can text the contacts on your phone. Alexa+ can also email your contacts by voice: you say "Email" plus a name and the message, check the draft and confirm before it goes out.
Which products can do it?
- Amazon Alexa+Yes
Alexa+ can text your phone's contacts from an Echo after you enable texting in the Alexa app and pair your phone with the Echo over Bluetooth; it can also email your contacts by voice.
Good to know: Per Amazon's Alexa+ help pages (no date shown). Works with Android and iPhone; email asks you to review and confirm each draft and only reaches your own contacts.
Why it matters
With hands full in the kitchen or the phone in another room, people want to send a quick text by voice from the speaker they're already talking to.

How we know (2 sources)
Amazon help page "Bluetooth Set Up for Text to Contacts with Alexa+", filed under "Calling and Messaging Using Alexa+" (read Oct 31, 2026): in the Alexa app (More > Settings > Communication > Texting) you enable texting for an Echo device and pair your phone with it over Bluetooth; Android phones allow texting when pairing, iPhones need both notification permission pop-ups accepted. The app then shows the Echo as enabled for texting. No list of supported Echo models or countries.
Read the sourceAmazon help page "Using Email to Contacts with Alexa+" (read Oct 31, 2026): say "Email" plus a contact's name and your message, review the draft and confirm before it sends; contacts sync from your linked email accounts and are stored in the cloud. Without a linked account Alexa sends the draft to your own inbox first. Alexa only emails your own contacts, not other household members'. Turned on in the Alexa app under Settings > Communicate > "Email my contacts".
