What is Gemini's Daily Brief, and is it free?
Short answer
Daily Brief is a daily summary in the Gemini app, built from your Gmail, Google Calendar, other connected Google apps and past Gemini chats, split into timely to-dos and longer-term goals. Google's help page asks for a US personal account, age 18 or older, English, and Memory plus the Google Workspace connection turned on, and names no paid plan. 9to5Google reported on Sep 8, 2026 that it no longer needs a Google AI subscription in the US. Google's own plans page still lists Daily Brief among the AI Plus and AI Pro extras, so what free users get may differ.
Which products can do it?
- Google GeminiYes
9to5Google reported on Sep 8, 2026 that Daily Brief no longer requires a Google AI subscription in the US.
Good to know: News report. Google's help page names no paid plan, but Google's US plans page (read Nov 4, 2026) still lists Daily Brief among AI Plus ($4.99/month) and AI Pro ($19.99/month) features.
Why it matters
People want one morning overview of email, meetings and open tasks instead of checking each app, and want to know whether that costs a subscription.
Not proven yet
Whether paid plans get more from Daily Brief than free accounts; Google's plans page lists it as a paid extra without explaining the difference, and the help page doesn't mention plans. When it reaches countries outside the US or other languages. Work and school accounts can't use it.
