Does a robot vacuum wash its mop with hot water?

Short answer

Yes. Several docks now heat the wash water, from 149°F (65°C) on the Dreame L40 Ultra to up to 212°F (100°C) on the Roborock Saros 20, and then dry the mops with warm air.

Which robots can do it?

  • Dreame L40 UltraYes

Dreame says the L40 Ultra's base station cleans the mop and washboard with water of up to 149°F (65°C), then dries the mops with hot air.

Good to know: Dreame Lab figure at about 73°F room temperature.

  • iRobot Roomba Max 705 ComboYes

iRobot says the Roomba Max 705 Combo mops with heated mopping and its AutoWash dock does heated drying.

Good to know: iRobot's page names no water or drying temperature.

  • Roborock Saros 10RYes

Roborock says the Saros 10R's dock washes the mops with 176°F (80°C) water and dries them with 131°F (55°C) warm air.

Good to know: Roborock's own testing at room temperature.

  • Roborock Saros 20Yes

Roborock says the Saros 20's dock washes the mop pads with water heated up to 212°F (100°C), then dries them with 131°F warm air.

Good to know: Roborock's own testing at standard air pressure; it notes the temperature varies with conditions such as altitude.

Why it matters

A mop that's rinsed in cold water and left damp in the dock picks up grease and starts to smell, which is the main complaint about vacuum-mop combos.

Whether hotter water actually gets mops cleaner in a real home. The temperatures here are the makers' own figures, measured at the dock under their test conditions; none of these sources tested them independently.

US Saros 20 page (read Oct 25, 2026): the RockDock washes the mop pads with water heated up to 212°F (100°C) and cleans itself with hot water, then dries the mops and dock with 131°F (55°C) warm air. Roborock says the 212°F figure comes from its own testing at standard atmospheric pressure, and actual temperatures vary with conditions such as altitude. The mops detach for vacuum-only or carpet-first runs.
