Can a robot vacuum work without Wi-Fi?

Short answer

Yes, for basic cleaning. iRobot and Roborock both say their robots clean the whole house, spot-clean and return to the dock from the buttons on the robot, without Wi-Fi or the app. Schedules, suction settings and map-based features need the app and Wi-Fi.

Why it matters

Some people don't want a robot on their home network, or have patchy Wi-Fi where the robot lives, and worry it won't work at all offline.
