Does a Roomba still work now that iRobot was sold?

Short answer

So far, yes. Picea took over iRobot on Jan 23, 2026, and iRobot kept updating the app for older Roombas such as the j7+, most recently on Jun 16, 2026.

Which robots can do it?

  • iRobot Roomba j7+Yes

After Picea's takeover closed on Jan 23, 2026, iRobot released two updates to the classic iRobot HOME app that runs the j7+: 7.17.6 on Jan 28 and 7.18.0 on Jun 16, 2026.

Good to know: App updates show the service is maintained, not how long it will be. Newer models use the separate Roomba Home app.

Why it matters

A robot vacuum depends on its maker's app and cloud for maps and schedules, so owners worry it could stop working after a bankruptcy.

Not proven yet

How long the app and cloud service will be supported. iRobot hasn't published an end date or a guarantee, and the sale announcement doesn't mention warranties.
