Which finger should you wear a smart ring on?
Short answer
Any finger that fits, but makers point to the index finger. RingConn recommends it for the most accurate readings, and Samsung recommends it for the Galaxy Ring's gesture controls while saying any finger works if the fit is right. Both want a snug fit that doesn't spin, with the sensors on the palm side. Size the exact finger you plan to use: RingConn says to wear its sizer for at least 24 hours, including overnight, and Samsung says to check at different times of day.
Which products can do it?
- Samsung Galaxy RingYes
Samsung says the Galaxy Ring can go on any finger as long as it fits, and recommends the index finger for the best gesture control.
Good to know: Samsung support guide (UAE site, updated Jul 6, 2026). It asks for a snug fit with the sensors facing your palm.
- RingConn Gen 2 AirYes
RingConn says its rings fit any finger on either hand and recommends the index finger for the most accurate readings.
Good to know: General sizing guide for RingConn rings, not specific to the Gen 2 Air. Wear the sizer at least 24 hours, including sleep.
Why it matters
Fingers differ in size and swell during the day, so people order a ring and then wonder which finger it belongs on and how tight it should be.
Not proven yet
How much the finger changes accuracy in practice; we found no independent test. Oura's own sizing page didn't say which finger to use when we read it on Nov 3, 2026, so Oura isn't covered here.
How we know (2 sources)
Samsung support (UAE site), guide to Galaxy Ring size and material (last updated Jul 6, 2026; read Nov 3, 2026): the ring can go on any finger as long as it fits; Samsung recommends the index finger for the best gesture control. The sizer should sit snug but not too tight, with no pain or slipping as you move; measure at different times of day because swelling changes finger size. The sensors should face your palm so health data is tracked accurately.
Read the sourceRingConn's sizing guide (read Nov 3, 2026): its rings fit any finger on either hand, and RingConn recommends the index finger for the most accurate readings. Wear the sizer for at least 24 hours, including during sleep; a good fit is comfortable, slightly snug and doesn't rotate during the day. The sensor side goes against the pad of the index or middle finger. The page covers RingConn rings in general, not one model.
