Can a window robot fall off the glass?
Short answer
It's built not to: window robots hold on by suction, and both Winbots we track add a safety cord, with backup power on the W3 Omni so it keeps holding if the power cuts out.
Which robots can do it?
- Ecovacs Winbot W2 Pro OmniYes
The W2 Pro Omni holds on by suction and is tied to its station by a combined power and safety cord in case suction lets go.
Good to know: Ecovacs lists a 12-stage protection system; TechRadar's hands-on was a first look, not a long-term test.
- Ecovacs Winbot W3 OmniYes
The W3 Omni combines strong suction, about 30 minutes of backup power and a safety cord rated for 100 kg.
Good to know: Figures from CyberShack's review; Ecovacs lists a 12-level protection system.
Why it matters
Putting a robot on an upstairs or outside window feels risky; one drop could break it or hurt someone below.

Read the sourceWeeks-long review of the Ecovacs Winbot W3 Omni (AU$1,299), 4.5/5: cleaned better than by hand, with a dock that washes its pads and layered safety (strong suction, about 30 minutes on backup power, a 100 kg safety cord). Leaves a faint pad outline to wipe off, once got stuck on a roller blind, and suits large square panes best.
