Apple HomeView: price, release date, and what it works with
Where it stands
As of Oct 22, 2026: on pre-order, shipping Nov 13, 2026. No full review yet.
Apple announced HomeView on Oct 13, 2026, its first smart home display and hub. Here's what it costs, what it connects to, and what reviewers could and couldn't test so far.
How much does it cost and when does it ship?
$299, with pre-orders from Oct 13 and availability on Nov 13, 2026. The countertop version has a speaker in its base; the wall version mounts with a USB-C ($59), AC wired ($79) or PoE ($129) mount.

Will my smart home devices work with it?
Apple HomeKit devices, and anything that supports Matter. HomeView supports Matter and Thread, the standards meant to make brands work together. Check for Matter support before buying a device to use with it.

What does it do?
It shows the weather, calendar and smart home controls, plays camera and doorbell feeds, works as an intercom between HomeViews and makes FaceTime calls. Apple says it recognizes each family member and switches to their calendar, messages and photos.

Is there a subscription catch?
For one feature: AI-generated descriptions of security camera footage need a 2TB iCloud+ plan. TechRadar notes the $299 price doesn't unlock all of HomeView's best features.

Is it better than an Echo Show or Nest Hub?
For people already using Apple's services, TechRadar thinks so: photos, calendars and music don't have to move to another platform. It hasn't been tested in a real home yet, only in Apple's demo space.
