The sticker price is only half the story with smart rings. Here's what you actually pay, and which phone you need.

What does each ring cost over a year?

The Oura Ring 5 is $399 to $499 depending on finish, plus a $5.99 monthly membership that unlocks most features. BGR puts year one at about $470 for the base model. The Samsung Galaxy Ring was $399 with no subscription in Tom's Guide's comparison.

Which phone do I need?

Oura works with iPhone and Android. The Galaxy Ring needs an Android phone, and a Samsung phone for all its AI features. For iPhone users, that settles it.

Which tracks sleep better?

BGR rates the Oura Ring 5's sleep and recovery analysis among the best of any consumer tracker. We haven't read an independent head-to-head accuracy test of the two rings yet, so we don't rank them on accuracy.

What can't a ring do?

Detailed workout tracking: neither ring does it well on its own. And medical readings: Oura says its ring isn't a medical device, and its blood pressure feature shows trends, not cuff-style readings.

Review of the Oura Ring 5: much smaller titanium ring, $399 (Black, Silver) to $499 for other finishes, plus $5.99/month membership that unlocks most features, so about $470 in year one. About a week of battery. Sleep and recovery analysis among the best; new blood pressure and breathing trend features have little independent validation and are not diagnostics. Not a medical device.
