Which phones translate your calls live
Oct 23, 2026 · 4 sourcesA year ago, live call translation was a demo. Now all three big phone makers ship it: you speak your language, the other person hears theirs. But each one does it differently, and the fine print matters. Here's what Google, Apple and Samsung say on their own pages.
Pixel 11: the translation sounds like the caller
Google's Pixel 11 translates what each person says in real time, using the sound of their own voice, so the conversation doesn't feel like talking to a robot.
Google is careful about it: the feature is available in select countries and languages, and it says translation may not be instantaneous.

iPhone 17: Live Translation in Phone and FaceTime
Apple's Live Translation works in the regular Phone app and in FaceTime, for one-on-one calls, in a listed set of languages including English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese.
With AirPods, Apple adds translation in your ear for face-to-face conversations too, and still labels that part beta.
Galaxy S26: Live Translate in the Samsung Phone app
Samsung's Live Translate translates calls in real time in the Samsung Phone app on a Galaxy S26, in 22 languages. Samsung describes it with Galaxy Buds4 Pro, where the translation plays in your ear.

What to check before you rely on it
First, the language pair: each maker supports a different list, and a feature that skips your relative's language doesn't help. Second, the setting: these are built for one-on-one calls, not conference calls.
None of the three makers promises accuracy, and we haven't seen an independent test yet. For an important call, such as with a doctor or a bank, treat it as a helper, not a certified interpreter.
