Short answer

Each brand ties translation to its own phones: AirPods need an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, Galaxy Buds need a Galaxy AI phone, and Pixel Buds a Gemini-compatible Android phone.

Which products can do it?

  • Apple AirPods Pro 3Yes

Live Translation needs an iPhone 15 Pro or later on iOS 26 with Apple Intelligence turned on.

Good to know: Also works with AirPods Pro 2, AirPods 4 (ANC), AirPods 5 and AirPods Max 2.

  • Samsung Galaxy Buds4 ProYes

Interpreter on Galaxy Buds4 Pro needs a Galaxy phone with Galaxy AI on One UI 6.1.1 or later; call translation uses a Galaxy S26.

Good to know: Other Android phones can use the earbuds, but not Galaxy AI translation.

  • Google Pixel Buds Pro 2Yes

Translation with Pixel Buds needs a Gemini-compatible Android phone with Gemini as the default assistant, plus an internet connection.

Good to know: Pairing via Fast Pair needs Android 9 or newer.

Why it matters

Translation runs on the phone, not the earbuds, so buying earbuds that don't match your phone means the headline feature won't work.
