Can a robot vacuum clean stairs yet?
Short answer
Not one you can buy. Roborock showed a stair-climbing prototype at CES 2026, but it has no release date.
Which robots can do it?
- Dreame Cyber XAnnounced
Dreame's Cyber X module carries compatible vacuums up stairs; Dreame quotes steps up to 25 cm.
Good to know: It moves the robot between floors; it doesn't clean the stairs. Expected in Europe at about €1,199; no US date.
- Roborock Saros RoverAnnounced
Roborock says the Saros Rover climbs and cleans straight, curved and carpeted stairs.
Good to know: Prototype shown at CES 2026. No independent testing, price or release date.
Why it matters
Robot vacuums stop at the top of the stairs, so every multi-story home still vacuums stairs by hand or carries the robot between floors.
Not proven yet
Price, release date, and how well the prototype cleans stairs in real homes. All stair claims so far come from Roborock and show-floor demos.
