Do video doorbells record all the time?

Short answer

Most don't; they save clips when someone rings or moves in view. Of the doorbells we track, only Aqara's G410 offers 24/7 recording, to a microSD card, and only when it's wired. Eufy's E340 page sizes its storage in short clips and never mentions continuous recording, and Apple describes 10 days of event history for LG's new doorbell.

Which products can do it?

  • Aqara Doorbell Camera Hub G410Yes

Aqara says the G410 can record 24/7 to a microSD card of up to 512 GB, only in wired-powered mode.

Good to know: Card sold separately; on batteries it doesn't offer continuous recording. Maker's spec, not a test.

Why it matters

Event clips can miss what happened just before or after the motion alert, so some people want a doorbell that keeps recording all day.

Not proven yet

How long a G410 microSD card lasts with round-the-clock recording; Aqara gives no figure. We found no official eufy statement on 24/7 recording for the E340.
