Does a smart ring work with an Android phone?
Short answer
Yes, all three rings we track have Android apps. Samsung's Galaxy Ring needs Android 11 or later plus the Galaxy Wearable and Samsung Health apps, and some features only work with Galaxy phones. Oura's app needs Android 11 or later and can share data with Health Connect, with a membership on Gen3 and newer rings. The RingConn Gen 2 Air supports Android 10 or later and syncs to Health Connect.
Which products can do it?
- Samsung Galaxy RingYes
Samsung says the Galaxy Ring pairs with phones on Android 11 or later with at least 1.5 GB of memory, using the Galaxy Wearable and Samsung Health apps and a Samsung account.
Good to know: Product page footnotes (UK site). Double Pinch needs a Galaxy phone on One UI 6.1.1 or later, and some features work only on selected Galaxy phones. No iPhone support.
- RingConn Gen 2 AirYes
RingConn lists Android 10 or later for the Gen 2 Air and syncs steps, sleep stages, heart rate and blood oxygen to Health Connect.
Good to know: Google Fit sync ended Oct 1, 2025. HRV doesn't sync to Health Connect for now. No subscription.
- Oura Ring 5Yes
Oura's app runs on Android 11 or later with Google Play services, and Oura can share sleep, activity, heart rate and HRV with Health Connect.
Good to know: Health Connect sharing needs an active membership on Gen3 and newer rings ($5.99/month). The phone needs Bluetooth 5.0.
Why it matters
Android phones come from many brands, so buyers wonder whether a ring only works fully with one maker's phone, and whether their data reaches the health app they already use.
Not proven yet
Whether Oura or RingConn data shows up in Samsung Health; neither maker says so, and we didn't test it. Which Galaxy Ring features you lose on a non-Samsung phone beyond the ones Samsung's footnotes name.
