Ecovacs Winbot W3 Omni vs HOBOT HOBOT-S7 Pro
3 questions both answer, side by side. Every answer is backed by the dated sources at the bottom.
Side by side
Can a window robot clean the outside of windows?
Ecovacs says the W3 Omni's battery lets it clean from indoor windows to exterior glass, plugged in or on battery, on glass at least 3 mm thick.
Good to know: Maker's description and spec. CyberShack's review found it suits large square panes best.
TechRadar used the S7 Pro on the outside of patio doors: the dirtier panes came out significantly cleaner but streaky, with visible paths and track marks, and it couldn't shift caked-on dirt or bird droppings.
Good to know: One reviewer, one unit, reviewed June 2025; lightly soiled indoor glass came out well. HOBOT's page doesn't say whether the robot is meant for exterior glass.
Can a window robot fall off the glass?
The W3 Omni combines strong suction, about 30 minutes of backup power and a safety cord rated for 100 kg.
Good to know: Figures from CyberShack's review; Ecovacs lists a 12-level protection system.
HOBOT lists a 4.5 m safety rope rated for 230 kgf and a built-in backup power supply that keeps the S7 Pro on the glass for 20 minutes with an audio alert if power fails; edge sensors detect frameless edges and gaps.
Good to know: Maker's specs. In TechRadar's review it fell off a window once and was caught by the rope, so attach it every time.
Can a window robot spray and wipe on its own?
The W3 Omni sprays through three wide-angle nozzles, wipes with a wet pad, and its station washes the pads automatically.
Good to know: Maker's description; CyberShack confirms the pad-washing dock.
The S7 Pro sprays water as a 15 µm mist through two ultrasonic nozzles, with a concentrated spray for stains, and wipes as it moves.
Good to know: Maker's description. TechRadar found it sprays at intervals, not continuously, and its two 80 ml tanks need topping up about every pane.

How we know (4 sources)
Weeks-long review of the Ecovacs Winbot W3 Omni (AU$1,299), 4.5/5: cleaned better than by hand, with a dock that washes its pads and layered safety (strong suction, about 30 minutes on backup power, a 100 kg safety cord). Leaves a faint pad outline to wipe off, once got stuck on a roller blind, and suits large square panes best.
Read the sourceUS product page for the Winbot W3 Omni, read Oct 23, 2026: a station with Vortex Wash that washes the wiping pads automatically, three-nozzle wide-angle spray with a wet pad, TruEdge edge cleaning, a two-in-one cable that combines safety and power cords, and a 12-level protection system. Reopened Oct 26, 2026: the battery lets it clean 'from indoor windows to an exterior glass surface', plugged in or on battery; spec sheet lists a 3 mm minimum glass thickness and frame-distance detection; stays attached for over 30 minutes at low battery. $699.99.
Read the sourceRuth Hamilton's hands-on review of the Hobot S7 Pro, read Oct 26, 2026: list price $439 / £329 at the time. She used it on indoor glass and on the outside of her patio doors. Lightly soiled indoor glass came out well, but the dirtier outside panes, though much cleaner, were left streaky with visible paths and track marks, and outdoors much of the mist blew away in the breeze; it can't remove caked-on dirt or bird droppings. The mist sprays at intervals from two 80 ml tanks, enough for about one side of one patio-door pane. It fell off a window once during testing and she caught it by the safety rope, so she says to always attach it. It cleaned a 1.3 m² pane in about 7.5 minutes (HOBOT advertises 1 m² in 2 min 36 s), refused a 32 cm wide window, and must be moved by hand from pane to pane. Downsides: awkward remote, shrill voice prompts and, at the time, no app support.
Read the sourceHOBOT's product page for the HOBOT-S7 Pro window robot, read Oct 26, 2026: a 4.5 m safety rope rated for 230 kgf of pulling force, and a built-in uninterruptible power supply that keeps the robot on the glass for 20 minutes with a continuous audio alert if power fails. Edge-Leakage-Bumper (ELB) sensors detect air leaking at window seals or frameless edges, and gaps between panels, so it suits frameless glass; silicone bumpers protect frames. Dual ultrasonic nozzles turn water into 15 µm mist, plus a concentrated Spot-on Spray for stains. Runs from a 4 m power cord (extendable to 8 m); HOBOT lists 1 m² in 2.6 minutes. The page doesn't say whether it is meant for exterior glass, and shows no price.
